Ladybugs and Butterflies

April was a fun month for our kiddos in school. Both Kennedy and Camden had some fun science blocks-Kennedy was raising butteflies, and Camden was studying ladybugs-each culminating in a fun bug party.

Ladybug release
Amber joined Camden class for the ladybug release party. The Kindergarteners became ladybugs themselves-they made their wings and had an "aphid" treat.

The cutest little ladybug!

Ladybug Camden with Amber

Loved this one-the cute little ladybugs all following their teacher out to the field to look for "aphids".

Showing off their wings!

Butterfly party:

Everyone in Kennedy's class "raised" a butterfly, and then had a big class party with family to release their buttflies. A little trick they used was to get the butterflies onto a slice of watermelon.

You can actually see the butterfly "drinking" the watermelon.

Camden enjoyed the party for a few minutes, and then the call of the playground was too much for him.

Addie liked the butterflies, but not as much as she loved the watermelon.

And Kennedy LOVED her butterfly!! She couldn't get enough of it-she kept telling Amber all the facts she had learned, and pointing them all out to her. It was great!

So cute! What creative teachers. Ellie just took a butterfly class last week and we're watching it build it's cocoon right now. Pretty exciting and hard for a little one to be so patient!
