Volleyball-church style

For those of you who don't know, Amber is over all the teen-age (12-18) girls in our ward (a geographical boundary for our church); this is about 20 girls. Every spring many wards will get together and have a friendly volleyball competition over a 6 week period. For those of you who think that because it's church-related it's somehow "tamer" you're completely wrong. I think many church-related sports end up more intense because it's the only place some have to outsource that pent-up emotion. But sports is a great place to learn teamwork and many life lessons can be learned.

So this past weekend was the culmination of the season's hard work-the tournament. Our ward fielded 2 teams-Amber was over the older one. Because it was on a Saturday, not everyone was able to attend. We had a full team, but no subs, and had to play an extra game along the way with not even a break after each win. There were some tough teams, but these girls were amazing! They supported and encouraged one another, even after mistakes were made. When they were down, they rallied and came back to win. They were positive and upbeat, but never arrogant. They really were the epitome of a TEAM. Words can not express how neat it was to watch these girls-we are so proud of them and they are an example to us all!
