Episode VIII -------December 2008
The Super-Wiser's: Our fabulous five have had a great year. When we last left our heroes, they had successfully circulated themselves among their neighbors under their alter identities. Some completed missions this year included starting a blog, a family reunion at a San Diego beach house, & a Charger (NFL) game. Travis and Amber were also asked to be a "Ma & Pa" on a pioneer trek. They pushed/pulled a handcart almost 20mi over 4 days with their 10"kids." After several trials they really became a true family-"O be Wise-er." In addition to all these successful assignments, our fabulous five also had individual missions that they accomplished this year.
Addie-The Giggler, 18 mo., Mommy's helper. "Baby girl," as she is affectionately called is generally an extremely happy girl, and her laugh is quite infectious. Like all superheroes she has a weakness-she knows what she wants and can be quite demanding at times. And since she is still honing her English, we observe a fair amount of squawks, grunts, signs, and head nods. Addie's other weakness is Otter-pops. She'll have them anytime of the day (Amber uses this to her advantage). She loves her super siblings, and they sure love to play with her and coax her into their rooms to play with them.
Camden-Mr. Smell, 4, Preschool. Don't open that bag of chips within a mile radius-he'll smell them out! Along with his intense sense of smell Camden has become quite the athlete this year in t-ball, swimming, & soccer. He honed his batting skills, will swim quite a distance without breathing, and showed a new power for "seeing" the game. He won't hang out in the pack, but will see where he needs to be and is successful at both offense and defense. Camden is also quite the runner-he has speed as well as endurance. He keeps this super family always moving and entertains us all with his comical sayings!
Kennedy-Miss Reader, 6, 1st Grade. As her name denotes, she has become quite the reader and constantly has a different book. Like all super powers, this can also become her downfall-she'll read instead of sleeping or cleaning. This year the stars aligned and she became a fish-swimming well with arm strokes, breathing and all. Kennedy also showed off her increasing powers in cheer and soccer-and has become quite the offensive star. With growing up comes, losing teeth-and she is ready and willing to tell anyone that she has lost 3 teeth to date. She is a sweetheart who loves school &sharing her room with her little sister.
Amber-Wonder Woman, Mommy. Amber's year was a little more adventurous than usual since she was the Young Women president of her ward. Not only were her weeks busy with mid-week activities, but there was also rappelling, water skiing, service activities, pioneer trek, girls camp, and many fun evenings with these wonderful girls. She will treasure those fun memories. To keep in super-human shape, Amber continues to run and play on a competitive co-ed soccer team. These activities will be put on hold as she is expecting another little super in April.
Travis-Superman, Print-Production Manager. Travis is really enjoying his new job as a Print-Production Manager for a Pharmaceutical marketing company. With Amber having such a time-consuming calling, Travis really stepped in and was truly a super-dad. He really enjoyed the increased daddy time he had with his little supers. Travis has rediscovered an old power-swimming. He recently joined a gym with a pool and has enjoyed consistent swim workouts. With all of this, he still had time for his church calling (Ward Missionary) & sports-both playing and watching. Travis is an amazing dad and husband and each day we are always excited for him to come home.
The Wiser's know that all their powers individually and collectively are gifts from our Savior and give thanks for them daily. They consider themselves deeply blessed, especially since this is their 8th Christmas as a family. We wish you all a very merry Christmas & happy New Year.
Love Travis, Amber, Kennedy, Camden, & Addie
