Christmas Traditions

Wiser Family Christmas Traditions.
Christmas Eve
We read Luke 2 and talk about the Christmas story. The kids then open pj's, and their gifts to each other. Then we have homemade cinnamon rolls (gooey ones) and hot chocolate and go caroling to a few friends. Then we watch "The Grinch" and wear our new pajamas.
Christmas Day
We all wait for each other and come out together. Santa has stacked each person's presents in a separate pile with their stocking. Then we take turns opening presents one-by-one. Kennedy has figured out that mommy and daddy like to give clothes while Santa gives all the cool toys ;o) Then we have a big yummy breakfast and play with all the fun toys. Later that afternoon we have Christmas dinner which now entails ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans, and rolls.
Growing up, Amber's family would open all the family presents Christmas eve, and then all Santa gifts in the am. While Trav's family would never open anything at night. And Amber's family would eat dinner Christmas eve, while Trav's family would eat it Christmas day. Somethings have been left out over the years, or change slightly, but that's what happens when your family is still young and figuring out what works and what doesn't. Travis would be perfectly happy if we didn't carol again :o) So we'll see how our traditions continue to grow.
We love hearing what others do for Christmas, so. . .
What are your family traditions?

Fun Christmas- sounds a lot like how we do it here too. It's fun to take the traditions we grew up with, combine them with the spouses, then suddenly you have your own. I love it! We do books and pj's on Christmas eve, also we always eat stew- this year we did taco soup instead. Well, actually you already read my post on Christmas so you know our traditions!!

In 11 Christmases together, 7 with kids, we've never spent Christmas eve/day in our own home. However, we did the family nativity pageant this year and I think it's a keeper. In my parent's home we open a gift on Christmas Eve, have special dinner on both nights (bigger, more fancy on Christmas Day), have a large breakfast on Christmas (waffles, the works), and always get PJs from Nonna. We also have a night(s) (usually the 26th and New Years Eve) where we make lots of yummy appetizers and finger foods and play games all night. We like food, I guess.

Sounds fun! I haven't done christmas without my family so we just carry on their traditions. My kids love it though and I'm sure I will continue them on! Looks like your kids made a haul! So cute! And I always love your christmas letter!
