Easton's FIRST birthday

Another month, another birthday..a FIRST birthday for little man Easton. Since he still has an allergy to dairy and soy proteins, we had to figure out how to modify his cake. After an extensive search, we found a dairy-free, soy-free butter and shortening, and some suitable recipies. And with a little rice milk, we were good to go. Since the frosting mix was different than our usual one, the decorating was a little more challenging, but it still turned out well.

At first he was timid about eating his cake-the fact that we were all staring him, probably didn't help either. But then he got right into it, and loved it! At one point even picking up his entire piece.

After eating quite a bit, he starting feeding the last bit to his siblings.

He loved his new toys.

After the family celebrations, we went out to enjoy the beautiful weather and went for a family walk. (don't you love how Easton is poking Camden in the eye?)
