During our process of reading we would get together periodically and work on our pirate ship.
We started making the hull out of paper mache. That took a few different days to make right.
After all that glue, we had to wash-up, and what better way to do that then running through the sprinklers?!
After the paper mache process was all done, it was time to put the whole ship together. Paint, the deck, masts, sails, anchor, wheel, crow's nest, and of course the Jolly Roger (the pirate flag).
Then came out "Pirate party" Jessica and Amber wanted to surprise the kids with their pirate gear. They loved our beards. And of course the kids loved to dress up too!
And then of course we had to go on a treasure hunt. They found their "booty"-candy ring pops, jewelry, more pirate gear, candy, and the diamond...Disney's "Treasure Island." The older kids enjoyed the movie. A week earlier we had watched Muppet's Treasure Island. We think the Wiser kids liked the Muppet version better. Who can blame them...it's the Muppets!!

I hate to be the one to say it. . .but Amber. . .you look like a terrorist!!! HA! You are going to have to teach me to be creative with my kids in the summer. I love that you do a 'summer-to-do' list. I need to adopt that.
